The
Palace of Judgment: stands on the eastern side of "Piazza delle Erbe". It's an
imposing building dating back to 1250 characterized by a battlement running on the higher
part of its front and a series of arches including mullioned windows with three lights
divided by two fine marble columns .
On arcade was then joined to it in the 16th Century, thus differring in style from the
rest of the construction. Under this arcade the goods were shown on market days.
The "Palazzo della Ragione" was the seat of the Higher Court of Justice. All
lawsuits and criminal trials were held in a large hall on the first floor where medieval
frescoes can still be admired. A cycle of religious characters and others with warriors
are painted on the walls.
