TURISMO A MANTOVA: IL WI-FI GRATUITO ARRIVA ALL’AREA CAMPER “SPARAFUCILE”
Since May 8, five new access points to the network have been activated, allowing more than 2,500 users to connect simultaneously. The project is the result of a collaboration between the Municipality of Mantua, Aster, and Mynet.

Since May 8, campers staying at the Sparafucile equipped area can take advantage of the new free public Wi-Fi connectivity service: another step forward in making the city even more welcoming and smart for tourists.

This project, the result of a collaboration between the Municipality, Aster (the company managing the camper area), and the telecom operator Mynet, expands the "Mantova Free Wi-Fi" initiative launched in 2014, which already includes more than 100 hotspots in the historic center.

The inauguration took place this morning in the presence of Adriana Nepote (Councilor for Innovation and Smart City, Municipality of Mantua), Ildebrando Volpi (Director of Aster), and Riccardo Barbera (President of Mynet).

The five new access points, each powered by 1 Gbps of bandwidth, allow for the simultaneous connection of up to 512 users per point, for a total capacity of over 2,500 people. Each user benefits from a connection speed of 10 megabits per second for both upload and download. This bandwidth limit has been specifically designed to ensure a fair and efficient service for everyone, preventing anyone from monopolizing the connection while still allowing activities such as high-resolution live streaming or HD video playback.

The design of the Wi-Fi system in the camper area took into account the specific challenges of the environment, such as dense foliage and parked vehicles that can hinder signal propagation. For this reason, Mynet’s technicians installed the antennas to ensure optimal coverage, even in the nearby green areas used by campers for leisure and relaxation.

“With the activation of the free Wi-Fi service at the Sparafucile camper area,” said Nepote, “we are taking another concrete step toward a Mantua that is increasingly connected, accessible, and attentive to the needs of those who choose it as a destination. Offering a high-quality digital service means improving the tourist experience, supporting widespread hospitality, and strengthening the city’s identity as a smart destination. This is a virtuous example of public-private collaboration, where innovation and tourism come together to enhance our territory.”

“We are thrilled about the launch of this new service, the result of a significant investment that will further enhance what we offer our guests,” commented Volpi. “The area can accommodate up to 56 campers on equipped pitches (expandable to 96) and recorded 7,118 entries in 2024. We aim to further increase visitor numbers by investing in services increasingly tailored to our guests’ needs.”

“Wi-Fi is now an essential service for today’s travelers and significantly improves the experience of any accommodation facility, including camper areas,” said Barbera. “We are extremely pleased to add this new piece to the digital mosaic of our city, contributing to the growth of the tourism sector.”
