COVID AND CONNECTIVITY: MYNET FIBER OPTIC WI-FI IN RIVAROLO BECOMES A POINT OF REFERENCE FOR BUSINESSES AND HOME USERS
RIVAROLO MANTOVANO – A forward-looking initiative that today, in light of the new regulations to combat the spread of the Coronavirus, takes on an even more significant economic and social importance: it is the Wi-Fi connection powered by fiber optics at 100 Mbit/s in the historic Piazza Finzi of Rivarolo Mantovano, activated at the end of last summer thanks to a non-repayable grant from the European Union. The Municipality added 6,000 euros to the project, allowing Mynet to also bring fiber optics to the craft area and the town center of the capital.

«Up to now, numerous users (especially younger ones) have connected to the internet from the heart of the town,» explains Mayor Massimiliano Galli; «a service provided free to the community, renewable monthly at no cost, also accessible from the nearby Via Gonzaga and Via Marone, the public library spaces, and those of Palazzo del Bue.»

Now, in times of forced smart working and distance learning, that connection has become even more valuable for the community. The Director General of Mynet, Giovanni Zorzoni, confirms: «The lockdown has traced the path to follow: to make the most of the potential of fiber optics to create an ultra-fast network capable of meeting the needs of businesses and private users. The exponential growth of connections, concentrated in suburban and rural areas of our province even during the pandemic, has further highlighted the need to strengthen fiber optic infrastructure, making it an even more strategic component for the economic and social development of the territory.»

Currently, in Rivarolo Mantovano, Mynet provides an FTTH (Fiber To The Home) connection to the Municipality, the public library, schools, and the craft area, with the goal of extending the network to all private users in the town.
