MONTERICCO DI NEGRAR (VERONA) – Another tailor-made project for the center of Montericco, a hamlet of Negrar in the province of Verona, aimed at eliminating the digital divide here as well: this is the initiative by Mynet, a telecommunications operator with 26 years of experience, leader throughout northern Italy, to provide an effective and timely response to those in the town who have long awaited the arrival of ultra-fast internet for study and work from home. The entire residential area, home to more than 200 families and currently completely lacking any cable broadband service, will be connected with Mynet’s fiber optic network in FTTH (Fiber To The Home) mode, true fiber optic directly to homes with speeds ranging from 300 Mbit/s up to 1 Gbit/s: excavation and network extension work is currently underway to quickly reach the homes in the hamlet; once completed, smart working, distance learning, surveillance, telephony, and leisure, including low-latency gaming, will finally be available to all. For Mynet, which has continuously strengthened its fiber optic network since the beginning of the pandemic to allow young people and adults to access all the potential of ultra-broadband, this is an excellent result. «It is always a great pleasure when we eliminate the digital divide in our territories,» explains Mynet’s CEO Giovanni Zorzoni, «in this case bringing true fiber optic directly into the homes of all Montericco citizens and the businesses of Arbizzano.» Essential to the success of the project was the role of the Montericco Residents Association, established at the end of 2019 by the residents of Montericco, via Vivaldi, and Boscopiano, who in recent months, Grazia Pezzin, Francesco Giovane, and Eros Cason, had appealed to Mynet to finally be "rescued" from technological isolation. While waiting for the final fiber optic activations in the center of the hamlet, Montericco is already looking to the future: the creation of a new neighborhood Wi-Fi network is under study, "powered" by Mynet’s digital fiber highway, which will allow broadband connections for visitors and remote monitoring with the implementation of automatic alerts for increasingly centralized supervision.
