MYNET TURNED ON FIBER NETWORK FOR THE MILAN CORTINA 2026 OLYMPICS: LIVIGNO RUNS ON MANTUA'S ULTRA-FAST NETWORK
The operator, a pioneer in the “Little Tibet” since 2017, guarantees streaming for global broadcasters and connectivity for the Olympic Village and top-tier hospitality facilities.

As the world’s spotlight turns to Livigno, a key venue of the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics, a distinctly Italian technological heart – with deep roots in the Mantua area – is beating beneath the snow of the Valtellina.

Mynet, a leading telecommunications company operating in Lombardy, Emilia, Veneto and Trentino-Alto Adige, in synergy with the Valtellina-based Coltra Srl, confirms itself as a strategic technological partner for the Olympic event, ensuring the digital infrastructure required for an event of global scale.

From 6 to 21 February, Livigno will host all Snowboard and Freestyle competitions, with a total of 26 Olympic medals at stake. To support this extraordinary demand, Mynet has enhanced connection speeds in hospitality facilities hosting journalists and international television networks (including major Japanese broadcasters), ensuring stable, ultra-high-capacity streaming flows for the worldwide broadcast of the competitions.

A ten-year-long story. The bond between Mynet and Livigno is not occasional, but the result of a far-sighted vision that began in 2017, when Mynet was the first operator to bring true fiber optics to the municipality. Since then, through six operational phases and continuous worksites, the company has deployed FTTH (Fiber To The Home) cabling to major hospitality facilities, municipal offices, and built the infrastructure for urban video surveillance and the free public Wi-Fi network for residents and tourists in the town squares.

Today, with over 120 hospitality facilities connected and an extensive proprietary network developed in synergy with local partner Coltra Srl, Mynet manages connectivity for the Olympic Village and the main strategic hubs of Livigno’s tourism sector.

Management’s comment
“Being present in Livigno with our technology during the Olympics is the culmination of a journey that began almost ten years ago,” stated Giovanni Zorzoni, CEO of Mynet. “We were the first to believe in the digital potential of this area when no one was investing, bringing fiber as early as 2017. Today, thanks to that strategic head start and our collaboration with Coltra, we are able to support international broadcasters and athletes with extremely high connectivity standards. We are not just providing internet; we are enabling the world to watch the Olympics through our cables.”

Coltra and Mynet: over ten years of collaboration serving the territory, towards the Milano-Cortina Olympics
The legal representative of Coltra Srl, Gelsi Bagini, expresses great satisfaction and pride in the collaboration with Mynet, active for over a decade and strengthened through major challenges and achievements throughout the Province of Sondrio, with particular focus on the municipality of Livigno.

“It is a great honor, both personally and for the company, to collaborate with Mynet for over ten years. The results achieved in the area demonstrate how a shared, long-term vision can generate tangible value for local communities. This shared journey represents an example of technological excellence and strategic vision, also thanks to the leadership of Mynet’s CEO, Giovanni Zorzoni, who has been able to interpret and anticipate the needs of a complex and strategic territory. The infrastructures built in Livigno are the result of constant work and a solid collaboration between Mynet and Coltra. The laying of countless kilometers of fiber optics and the connection of around 80% of hospitality facilities constitute a fundamental asset for the future of the territory. The assignment and hosting of the Milano-Cortina Olympics in Livigno represent the culmination of this journey: an infrastructural investment that today allows the territory to offer one of the best technological services available, strengthening its economic, tourism and social competitiveness in view of an event of international relevance.”

Key data of the Mynet infrastructure in Livigno:
  • 2017: First fiber optic backbone in Via Saroch.
  • 2018–2019: Extensive expansion with over 85 business users and prestigious hotels.
  • 2020: Cabling of WiFi4EU hotspots and municipal offices.
  • Today: Over 120 hospitality facilities connected and enhancement of links for international streaming (Japan and other global broadcasters).
With this initiative, Mynet reaffirms its vocation as a local operator capable of competing on an international scale, bringing the technological excellence of Northern Italy under the spotlight of the five-ring event.
