TOURISM IN MANTOVA: FREE WI-FI ARRIVES AT THE "SPARAFUCILE" CAMPER AREA
From May 8th, 5 new network access points have been activated, allowing over 2500 users to connect simultaneously. The project is the result of collaboration between the Municipality, Aster, and Mynet

Since May 8th, campers hosted at the Sparafucile equipped area can now benefit from the new public and free Wi-Fi connectivity service: a further step forward to make the city even more welcoming and smart for tourists.

This project, the result of collaboration between the Municipality, Aster (the company managing the camper area), and the operator Mynet, extends the "Mantova Free Wi-Fi" initiative launched in 2014, which already includes over 100 hotspots in the historic center.

This morning the inauguration took place with the presence of Adriana Nepote, Councillor for Innovation and Smart City, Municipality of Mantova, Ildebrando Volpi, Director of Aster, and Riccardo Barbera, President of Mynet.
The 5 new access points, powered by 1 Gbps bandwidth each, allow for simultaneous connection of up to 512 users per point, reaching a total of over 2500 people. Each user has a connection speed of 10 Mbps for both upload and download. This bandwidth limit was specifically designed to ensure a fair and performing service for everyone, preventing any one user from overloading the network at the expense of others, while still allowing activities like high-resolution live streams or HD movie and game streaming.
The design of the Wi-Fi system in the camper area took into account the specific challenges of the context, such as dense foliage and parked vehicles, which may obstruct signal propagation. For this reason, the antennas were installed by Mynet technicians to ensure optimal coverage even in adjacent green areas, used by campers for leisure and relaxation.
“By activating free Wi-Fi in the Sparafucile camper area,” Nepote said, “we are taking another concrete step towards a more connected, accessible Mantova, closer to the needs of those who choose it as a destination. Offering a quality digital service means improving the tourist experience, supporting widespread hospitality, and reinforcing the city’s identity as a smart destination. It is a virtuous example of public-private collaboration, where innovation and tourism meet to enhance our territory.”

“We are thrilled with the activation of this new service, the result of an important investment that will further increase the offering to our clients,” commented Volpi. “The area can accommodate up to 56 campers in equipped pitches (with the possibility of extending to 96), and in 2024 it registered 7,118 entries. We intend to encourage an increase in incoming traffic by investing in more targeted services to meet the needs of our guests.”
“Wi-Fi is now an essential service for today’s tourists and significantly improves the stay experience in any accommodation facility, including the camper area,” said Barbera. “We are extremely satisfied to add this further piece to the digital mosaic of our city, contributing to the development of the tourism sector.”
