TOURISM IN MANTOVA: FREE WI-FI ARRIVES AT THE "SPARAFUCILE" CAMPER AREA

Since May 8th, 5 new network access points have been active, to which over 2500 users can connect simultaneously. The project is the result of a collaboration between the Municipality, Aster, and Mynet.

Since May 8th, campers staying at the Sparafucile equipped area can enjoy the new public and free Wi-Fi connectivity service. This marks a further step towards making the city even more welcoming and smart for tourists.

This project, a result of the collaboration among the Municipality, Aster (the company managing the camper area), and the operator Mynet, expands the "Mantova Free Wi-Fi" initiative launched in 2014, which already boasts over 100 hotspots in the historic center.

This morning, the inauguration took place in the presence of Adriana Nepote, Councillor for Innovation and Smart City for the Municipality of Mantova; Ildebrando Volpi, Director of Aster; and Riccardo Barbera, President of Mynet.

The 5 new access points, each powered by 1 Giga of bandwidth, allow for simultaneous connection of up to 512 users per point, reaching a total of over 2500 people. Each user has a connectivity speed of 10 megabits per second for both upload and download. This bandwidth limit was specifically designed to ensure an equitable and high-performing service for everyone, preventing anyone from taking advantage at the expense of others, while still allowing activities such as high-resolution live streams or streaming of movies and matches in HD.

The design of the Wi-Fi system in the camper area has taken into account specific contextual challenges, such as dense foliage and parked vehicles, which can hinder wave propagation. For this reason, antennas were installed by Mynet technicians to ensure optimal coverage even in the adjacent green areas, used by campers for recreation and relaxation.

"With the activation of free Wi-Fi at the Sparafucile camper area," stated Nepote, "we are taking a new concrete step towards a Mantova that is increasingly connected, accessible, and attentive to the needs of those who choose it as a destination." She added, "Offering a quality digital service means improving the tourist experience, supporting widespread hospitality, and strengthening the city's identity as a smart destination. It is a virtuous example of public-private collaboration, where innovation and tourism meet to enhance our territory."

"We are enthusiastic about the activation of this new service, the result of a significant investment that will further increase the offerings to our customers," commented Volpi. He noted that "the area can accommodate up to 56 campers in equipped pitches (with potential for extension to 96) and in 2024 recorded 7,118 entries. We intend to promote an increase in the flow of entries by investing in services increasingly aimed at satisfying the needs of our guests."

"Wi-Fi is now an essential service for today's tourist and significantly improves the staying experience in any accommodation facility, including the camper area," declared Barbera. He concluded, "We are extremely satisfied to add this further piece to the digital mosaic of our city, contributing to the development of the tourism sector."
