IN BORGO MANTOVANO, MYNET PAVES THE WAY TO DIGITALIZATION: WORK UNDERWAY TO BRING FIBER OPTICS TO THE LOCALITY

BORGO MANTOVANO (MANTOVA) – A major initiative, with around twenty municipal offices connected and as many kilometers of fiber optic laid across the territory, is taking shape these weeks: the FTTH and FTTC cabling project by Mynet for the Municipality of Borgo Mantovano, paving the way for the digitalization of the three centers of Revere, Pieve di Coriano, and Villa Poma.

Work started in March and will continue until the end of June. 20 kilometers of fiber optic have been laid so far along the primary backbone connecting Ostiglia to Poggio Rusco; of these, 2.5 km out of a total of 10 km are Mynet’s proprietary infrastructure currently installed along State Road 12.

The teams’ work specifically involves the FTTH (Fiber To The Home, true fiber optic directly into buildings) connection of all institutional offices, including: in Pieve di Coriano, the municipal office, civic hall, library, sports center, elementary and kindergarten schools, and nursery; in Revere, the municipal office, retirement home "Sereni Orizzonti", Palazzo Ducale, elementary, middle, and kindergarten schools, Ducale Theatre, and sports center; finally, in Villa Poma, the municipal office, library and civic hall, elementary and kindergarten schools, nursery, and sports center. FTTH connections (up to 1 Gbit/s download) will also cover the three industrial areas and productive companies located in Borgo Mantovano.

For private users, fifteen FTTC cabinets (Fiber To The Cabinet – fiber to the street cabinet) will be installed, offering a mixed fiber-copper connection with speeds up to 300 Mbit/s download and 40 Mbit/s upload as a base service, with the possibility of upgrading to pure FTTH after a feasibility study. This is a significant investment by the company, aimed at overcoming digital divide limitations, particularly crucial during the pandemic.
