MANTOVA – Giovanni Zorzoni, General Director of Mynet, is the new President of AIIP – Italian Internet Provider Association, one of the most historic, representative, and important associations of Italian telecommunications operators. Yesterday morning, the AIIP annual members’ assembly renewed the Board of Directors, which elected the new president, Mantuan Giovanni Zorzoni. The Board also appointed vice-presidents Giuliano Claudio Peritore (Panservice), past president for the previous four years, and Cinzia Dalla Torre (Intred). Zorzoni has served as General Director of Mynet since 2003. Previously vice-president of AIIP during 2019-2021, he has been actively involved, as delegate of the previous Board, in issues regarding free modems within the Free Modem Alliance (an alliance created to enforce European laws on terminal device freedom) and fiber optic networks, coordinating the namesake working group, in order to keep telecommunications networks open and competitive and to allow all market operators to contribute to the country’s digitalization process. “It is an honor to lead AIIP in serving all my colleagues,” declares Zorzoni; “from this moment on I will dedicate myself even more intensely to contributing to the protection of the free telecommunications market for Italian operators, whether in physical/virtual networks or advanced cloud and datacenter services.” For twenty-five years, AIIP has represented the best of SMEs in Italy in the field of high-speed networks and advanced Internet services. It is composed of 60 telecommunications and Internet operators – with a total of over 200,000 business customers and one million residential customers – and has contributed to the growth of more than seven companies that went public.
