13 FREE WIFI POINTS ACTIVATED IN GONZAGA WITH MYNET

GONZAGA (MANTOVA) – Thirteen new wi-fi points, both outdoor and indoor, to freely access the internet in five public areas of the city center and in institutional offices: this was announced by the Municipality of Gonzaga together with Mynet.

Completed just a few days ago, the intervention carried out by the Mantua-based telecommunications operator allowed the Municipality to activate the “WiFi4Eu” project, an initiative of the European Union that provides local authorities with economic contributions to enhance wireless access points in their territories. Thanks to these funds, Gonzaga now has new wi-fi supply points located in both outdoor and indoor areas of public interest: in addition to the Town Hall in Piazza Castello (two indoor points in the council chamber and waiting room, plus one outdoor point overlooking the square), also the civic hall of the middle schools (where three additional access points were activated), the municipal theater with the audience area and the nearby bar (with five wi-fi points), the newly renovated music school, the multipurpose hall, and the elementary school gym.

The wireless points, installed and tested in just two and a half days, are already fully operational and all connected to the Mynet pure fiber-optic network to deliver maximum performance. Each point can connect hundreds of users simultaneously with 100 Mbit bandwidth; the registration process at the access points is extremely fast, allowing citizens to complete it in less than twenty seconds. To use the connection, users simply need to connect to the Wifi4EU network and register with their phone number; registration remains active for 24 hours and can be renewed daily.

“Thanks to the new wi-fi points,” explains the Mayor of Gonzaga, Elisabetta Galeotti, “citizens will be able to connect freely and for free to the internet in some strategic points of our territory. In this era strongly oriented towards digitalization, it is necessary, on one hand, to equip ourselves with the most advanced and secure infrastructures to avoid technological gaps, and on the other, to guarantee the population extensive opportunities for network access: this investment aims to achieve both objectives, closely related to sustainable development and free access to information.”

“The uniqueness of our intervention in Gonzaga lies in the choice of locations the Municipality decided to connect through the WiFi4Eu project: sites that, in addition to having a purely institutional role, are also points of public interest due to their high social value,” adds the General Manager of Mynet, Giovanni Zorzoni. “I am thinking, in particular, of the theater, the heart of the town’s cultural life, where five access points were activated: in the audience area (where over 500 users can connect at the same time), but also behind the scenes to meet the needs of technicians and external suppliers. Special attention was also given to sports spaces, gyms, and multipurpose courts near the elementary school, highly frequented by under-25s, where the high-speed connection provided by Mynet can also be used to broadcast live events. With these choices,” concludes Zorzoni, “the Gonzaga Administration has truly demonstrated attention to the future of the new generations, continuing to recognize the educational role of culture and sports, which is too often overlooked.”
