SAN BENEDETTO PO – "In the schools of San Benedetto Po, fiber optic installation works are proceeding at the speed of light: in just a few weeks, all students will be able to take advantage of distance learning without the limitations imposed by the old copper networks." This is how Mynet’s General Manager, Giovanni Zorzoni, comments on the interventions aimed at connecting the Professional Institute for Agriculture and the Environment "P.A. Strozzi" in Villa Garibaldi, San Benedetto Po, where distance learning is currently difficult due to slow and unreliable connectivity.

In recent days, the Mantuan telecommunications operator has been carrying out horizontal directional drilling along the entire provincial road; subsequently, the necessary excavations will be made to accommodate the existing connections and infrastructure, so that fiber entries can also be laid. The final steps include excavations for manholes and junctions on the roadside towards the school and the activation of the related internal connections.

Excavations are carried out, where possible, using the no-dig technique, which encompasses a series of systems used in infrastructure installation that allow pipes and underground networks to be placed using robotic machines, thus avoiding open trenches.

“Covid has taught us a hard lesson: the digitalization of schools, together with that of companies, is a true priority that requires adequate infrastructure,” explains Zorzoni. “The initial deployment of ultra-broadband networks in areas where schools are located aims to provide an efficient service for distance learning, both as an innovative teaching methodology and to cope with the current emergency context. For this reason,” continues Mynet’s General Manager, “connectivity must be as symmetrical as possible, to include many students and teachers connected simultaneously to the same system. Mynet’s commitment goes in this direction: providing fast connections and innovative technological infrastructure for teaching, in San Benedetto Po as well as in all schools in the province of Mantua.”

The completion of the works and the testing of fiber optic connections are expected by November.
