MYNET FIBER OPTICS ARRIVES IN VILLIMPENTA

VILLIMPENTA (MANTUA) – The center of Villimpenta is also about to join the long list of towns served by Mynet fiber optics: in fact, in recent weeks the project for FTTH and FTTC cabling of the municipal area has been taking shape, starting with the construction of a new backbone entirely in fiber optics along the route connecting Villimpenta in Mantua to the center of Bonferraro, in the province of Verona. The infrastructure will cross the localities of Moratica, Pampuro, and Corte Belgioioso (hamlets of Sorgà), along the Veronese section of SP20A and the Mantuan section of SP32, towards Vallano Begozza and then Villimpenta.

The telecommunications company’s teams specifically carried out the FTTH (Fiber To The Home, true fiber optic directly into the building) connection for the entire industrial area of Villimpenta, which will be able to reach web speeds of up to 1 Gigabit/s. Municipal offices (the Town Hall, elementary and middle schools in Piazzale W. Tobagi, the multipurpose facility on Via Ruffilli, the library, the parish kindergarten, and the Scaligero Castle with the fair space on Via Tione) will reach up to 100 Mbit/s symmetric speed. The activation of four smart poles in the municipal area and five Wi-Fi and video surveillance points is also planned (photovoltaic system on Via Marconi, cemetery, rural village on Via Costanzi, Pradello-Villimpenta industrial area, and Pradello hamlet).

Regarding private users, FTTC cabinets (Fiber To The Cabinet – fiber optic to the street cabinet) have been installed, providing a basic service available to all with mixed fiber-copper connection speeds up to 200 Mbit/s. For private users within 50 meters from the fiber access network, it will also be possible to browse up to 1 Gigabit/s by paying only the connection fees, thanks to the significant infrastructure investment made by the Municipality.

Currently, the telecommunications company’s teams have just begun tracing and excavation work for the backbone; the completion of the interventions is expected by the end of the year, while the first activations of private users are expected approximately from February.

«The Municipal Administration, given the many requests from companies and private citizens to enhance internet communication in the area, decided to use part of the 2020 budget surplus to lay fiber throughout the municipal area,» explains Mayor Fabrizio Avanzini. «The resources originally provided were sufficient to cover the town center and only partially the hamlets and industrial zone. At that point, we involved local companies based in the industrial area, requesting their financial support. The majority of companies responded positively and allowed the project to be completed in its entirety. Once the fiber is laid, every user, whether company or private citizen, can choose to connect by contacting Mynet directly for contractual details. We thank the local companies that contributed to the project and the Villimpenta Municipal Technical Office, represented by architect Alberto Zanetti, for the extraordinary commitment.»
