MANTUA – Mynet has brought its fiber optic network to the drive-through testing center in Grazie di Curtatone, where Covid swabs have been performed since last Monday. The work was carried out by Mynet teams in record time last Saturday morning, in order to ensure the operational readiness of the testing site as early as today. Specifically, during the previous week, the entire wi-fi network of the Curtatone district had already been reconfigured to provide internet access service to the ASST. "At the same time as this type of operation," explains Mynet’s General Director Giovanni Zorzoni, "we understood that the needs of the facility and the qualified personnel working inside it also concerned the speed of transmitting the collected data, to ensure timely communication with the hospital and with users. At that point we decided to install two devices providing local wi-fi connection through fiber optics, allowing healthcare staff to access the internet via Ethernet cable with speeds up to 1 Gbps." As of this morning, the two stations are fully operational inside the modular unit in the Grazie parking area. The service is provided free of charge by the Mantua-based telecommunications operator, which since the beginning of the pandemic has recorded a significant increase in requests for fiber optic connectivity activation from businesses and private citizens, used for smart working and distance learning but also for e-commerce or, more simply, to maintain family connections. "In this case," adds Zorzoni, "fiber optics prove to be a valuable ally in the medical and healthcare field as well, making the exchange of important sensitive data—such as those related to Coronavirus infections—simpler, faster, and more accessible."
