MONTERICCO DI NEGRAR, MYNET'S FTTH PROJECT COMPLETED: OVER 160 FAMILIES ALREADY CONNECTED TO TRUE FIBER OPTICS
MONTERICCO DI NEGRAR (VERONA) – The extensive fiber optic cabling work in the Verona area of Montericco di Negrar by Mynet is now concluding: the leading telecommunications operator in northern Italy, after connecting the first users in the district around mid-August, is now finalizing the last connections, which will activate all the families that joined the project by the end of September.

The work, started in April thanks to the strong initiative of the Montericco Residents Association, which acted as the voice of the community’s need for an innovative fiber optic network, and also with the support of the Municipal Administration, is now close to achieving its first goal: 220 buildings made connectable for a total of 260 families; 165 homes already reached by FTTH technology (Fiber To The Home, real fiber directly into the home) and actually connected, along with 5 public buildings and 57 productive units, with a total investment by Mynet of over €350,000.

Reviewing the main stages of Mynet’s work in Montericco is the Association secretary, Franco Giovane: «Contacts with the company began in December 2020 and materialized in the spring of this year. We appreciated Mynet’s responsiveness and the simple yet constructive relationship established with management, as well as the speed in completing the works, carried out quickly despite the nature of the terrain (which required the use of innovative excavation technologies) and the distance between homes. The arrival of FTTH fiber is a huge achievement for us: we could not have hoped for better.» For the moment, 165 families in Montericco have been reached, representing about 75% of those who joined the association; the remaining families can easily join now that Mynet’s FTTH network is in place.

«The Montericco project started from the ground up, directly from the citizens: the partnership between the Association and Mynet then led to the realization of the work - adds the company’s General Manager, Giovanni Zorzoni. - Users can now enjoy a truly stable and resilient connection instead of the old inefficient ADSL, which in this area barely reached 5 Mbit/s and was often subject to line interruptions and signal losses. Our fiber optic network guarantees a clear improvement in daily life for both families and local businesses, who can now use cloud services, video surveillance, remote backup, home automation, and much more. Our pride? Succeeding where larger operators failed or even gave up trying.»

Now it’s time to look to the future for Montericco. «In addition to home automation and video surveillance – explains Eros Cason, member of the Montericco Residents Association Fiber Commission – we aim to implement a community-wide alarm system, thus surpassing the last perimeter covered by individual home alarm systems. I see a bright future for Montericco.» Finally, the activation of fiber for the Montericco community has simultaneously opened the opportunity to connect the Arbizzano industrial area, enabling access to many other areas of the district and laying the foundation for further network expansions.
