MYNET IS THE FIRST TO TURN ON INTACTURE
Ultra-Fast Fiber Connectivity at the Data Center in the Heart of the Mountain

Trento, December 4, 2025. Mynet, a telecommunications company and leader in ultra-fast connectivity, is the first operator to have activated its fiber optic network at Intacture, the Data Center located in the heart of the mountain in Trentino. The project for laying the connectivity infrastructure was completed in record time and celebrated today in the presence of numerous representatives from institutions and organizations.

The challenge won: connectivity in less than two months
Mynet accepted and won the challenge of bringing connectivity to this extraordinary infrastructure in less than two months. Connectivity that represents the digital bridge connecting the Data Center to the world and end-users.

“We accepted a challenge – says Mynet’s General Manager Giovanni Zorzoni – to bring connectivity to this extraordinary infrastructure in less than sixty days. Our first inspection was on September 15th: three days later, we were already operational.”

By leveraging its proprietary backbone (the core of Mynet’s fiber optic network) already existing in Trentino, and thanks to the significant investments made by the company and its subsidiary Mynet Trentino, the operator was able to accelerate the implementation, gaining a huge competitive advantage in terms of time and costs. This allowed the company to focus the design and construction solely on the final section (3.5 kilometers) from the backbone access point (POP) to the Data Center.

“The inspection inside the structure was surprising – says Mynet’s Infrastructure Director Omar Vacchelli – it’s a work created inside a mountain, in an active mine, with galleries and internal branches, all built to the highest standards of safety and resilience.”

Numbers and Technology
Mynet’s commitment has been exceptional: the company dedicated its infrastructure department and specialized technicians from Trentino, from its historic headquarters in Rovereto, almost entirely to the project to ensure the speed of execution.
The works, which involved specialized teams of installers and splicers, lasted from September 17th to mid-November, the date of completion of the optical infrastructure.

Some numbers
The operation required the creation of 14 new kilometers of backbone and the installation of 4.2 kilometers of fiber (3.5 kilometers on roads – from the backbone to the Data Center entrance – and 0.68 kilometers inside the Data Center) in less than two months.

The Data Center is served by the latest-generation fiber optic connectivity: Mynet implemented the DWDM technology with Nx400 Gigabit per second, which ensures unprecedented capacity and latency for the hosted services, also thanks to the fully underground cable routes the company has to reach the autonomous province of Trento.

Achille Spinelli, Vice President and Councillor for Economic Development, Labor, Family, Universities, and Research of the Autonomous Province of Trento declares: “This is the realization of a success story, intertwining scientific expertise, advanced technologies, and industrial capabilities, generating new development opportunities in a unique and naturally sustainable context. Connectivity strengthens the competitiveness of the area and paves the way for further investments in an ecosystem that grows thanks to synergies and local expertise.”

“The activation of connectivity by Mynet represents a key milestone in the development of Intacture. Bringing fiber optics so quickly to a complex structure like a data center inside a mine demonstrates the strength of a collaboration focused on quality and fast execution. The activation of connectivity by an operator like Mynet confirms the value of Intacture and the central role this facility is assuming in the digital ecosystem of Trentino and Italy,” comments Roberto Loro, Board Member of Trentino DataMine.

“Intacture represents a strategic infrastructure for Trentino in support of research and digital innovation – adds the President of the Scientific Committee of Trentino DataMine Paolo Giorgini – In a sector like artificial intelligence, characterized by rapid evolution, it is essential to have solutions capable of reducing response times and favoring ever-closer integration between research activities and practical applications. The activation of fiber optics is a fundamental step to make the data center fully operational and enables the area to equip itself with the necessary tools to compete, supporting growth, experimentation, and technology transfer.”

Concludes Zorzoni: “In the year we celebrate our thirtieth anniversary, this highly challenging and innovative project has symbolically crowned our activity, which is expressed in our proximity to the needs of the territory to reduce the digital divide, and our ever-high focus on research and development.”

MYNET: Italian Excellence in Fiber Optics

MYNET is the largest Italian telecommunications company non-financialized, with entirely private capital held by Lombard entrepreneurs. Founded in 1995, Mynet stands out for its model combining financial independence, technological innovation, and attention to the needs of the territory.

Proprietary Network: with over 32,000 km of fiber optics, Mynet covers the most strategic and industrialized areas of Northern Italy (Lombardy, Veneto, Trentino-Alto Adige, and Emilia-Romagna), with commercial and technical-operational offices in Verona, Brescia, Bergamo, Sondrio, Monza, Milan, Modena, and the autonomous province of Trento, ensuring a widespread presence and direct support to customers. Mission: the company’s slogan – “We bring fiber optics where others don’t” – reflects the tangible commitment to infrastructure industrial districts and disadvantaged areas, often in the absence of public funding, to reduce the digital divide.

Mynet is the only 100% vertically integrated operator in Italy, managing all processes in-house: from the design and construction of infrastructures to software development, with over 200 specialized professionals.

INTACTURE: A Unique Data Center in Europe

INTACTURE is the first European civil data center built inside an active mine, in the heart of the Val di Non. A unique infrastructure, designed to guarantee the highest levels of physical, digital, and electromagnetic security thanks to the natural protection offered by millions of cubic meters of rock.

The project, developed by Trentino DataMine, a public-private partnership that brings together the University of Trento and four local private entities, is funded by PNRR funds and has a clear objective: to combine innovation and environmental responsibility. Intacture uses exclusively renewable energy, maximizes energy efficiency, and minimizes land use, regenerating the mine spaces in a circular way. Designed as a strategic hub for businesses and Public Administrations, the data center will host IT equipment, advanced digital services, and research projects, contributing to the development of a technological ecosystem that values the territory and its community.
