The story of the birth and development of the Italian Internet became the focus of one of the side events of the Festivaletteratura with the presentation of the book “1995-2025. Thirty years of the Internet. Stories of the development of the Italian Internet told by its protagonists”. The event took place today Friday, September 5 at 6:15 PM in the charming setting of Palazzo d’Arco in front of a large audience of enthusiasts.
The volume, a publication of over 400 pages, was edited by Giovanni Zorzoni, General Director of Mynet and Vice President of AIIP, and Giuliano Claudio Peritore, President of the Italian Internet Provider Association (AIIP), both of whom participated in the presentation.
“Those who know the past and can read its signals are able to see where it is heading before others” – said Zorzoni – distinguishing between surface movements and the deep currents that truly move the world.”
“It has been a real pleasure to present our story in this context” – added Peritore – “we hope that some of the topics discussed will inspire our young people.”
During the meeting, moderated by Luisa Lavagnini, General Coordinator of the UniverMantova Foundation, the two authors retraced the rapid evolution of the Internet in Italy, paying tribute to the entrepreneurs who, with vision and passion, helped bring the network to even the most remote areas of the country, reducing the digital divide.
