MALCESINE, THE COUNTDOWN HAS STARTED
Initial phase of the project coming to a close; after the tourism sector, attention turns to households

MALCESINE (VERONA) – Slowed down by Covid, Malcesine is preparing to restart the next tourist season with an additional resource: fiber optics. In these weeks, the laying of the brand-new FTTH (Fiber To The Home – true fiber directly to homes) network infrastructure is being completed, allowing major municipal and school buildings in the center, as well as around in the area, to surf the web at speeds of up to 1 Gigabit/s.

Thanks to the agreement between Mynet and the Municipality, and the use of innovative excavation methods, the work was low-impact and in record time 25 km of optical cable has already been laid. In the past few days, the excavation and pipe-laying for additional participating clients have been completed, and in about twenty days the system will undergo testing. Work, which started in October, is thus nearing completion: by the end of March, in time for the start of the new tourist season, all hotels participating in the project will be connected, benefiting from Mynet’s ultra-broadband network.

However, the work being completed represents only the initial phase of the entire project: with the first 60 hotels already connected, the network is already prepared to host other hospitality structures that wish to connect to ultra-broadband. Private users are not left out, with the availability of FTTC (Fiber To The Cabinet – fiber to the street cabinet) for smart working, distance learning, online shopping, low-latency gaming, and high-resolution streaming.
