TELECOMMUNICATIONS COMPANY MYNET LAUNCHES WORLD'S FIRST 50G PON TECHNOLOGY FOR MICRO-ENTERPRISES

TELECOMMUNICATIONS COMPANY MYNET LAUNCHES WORLD'S FIRST 50G PON TECHNOLOGY FOR MICRO-ENTERPRISES

After achieving the European record in 2022, Mynet sets a new milestone: the first operator in the world to commercially launch 50G PON fiber, now available for micro-enterprises in Milan City Life, Portello, and the city of Mantua

After being the first operator in Europe to test, including through a public live demo, the 50G PON technology on a real network in 2022, and the first company in the world to perform a live Internet speed test, Mynet sets another global Italian record: the commercial launch of 50G PON technology, the most advanced and high-performance connectivity in the world, now finally “production ready” in its trimodal version, capable of simultaneously supporting current 2.5G and 10G technologies.

The telecommunications operator specializing in fiber-optic connectivity, founded in Mantua 30 years ago and now a major TelCo player in Northern Italy, brings the new technology out of the laboratories, with an offer dedicated to micro-enterprises with extreme needs for bandwidth and low latency, available in the districts of Milan City Life and Portello, and in the city of Mantua.

After the success of the experimentation, we decided to push the boundaries of connectivity even further, launching this technology as the first in the world. Italian micro-enterprises can no longer be left behind compared to major international players: with 50G PON, Mynet offers them connectivity superior to any other option on the market,” says Giovanni Zorzoni, General Director of Mynet.

Mynet’s world-first 50G PON technology allows three simultaneous transmission capacities over the same fiber (50G symmetrical, 10G symmetrical, and 2.5/1G asymmetrical), and is the only technology that can upgrade pre-existing FTTH networks without modifying all active customers using 10G and 2.5G speeds.

This technology opens new scenarios for companies, public bodies, and network operators, guaranteeing next-generation connectivity without the need to modify existing fiber infrastructures, explains Zorzoni. 50G PON is a breakthrough for organizations managing large volumes of data, using cloud computing on a large scale, and requiring real-time corporate backups. But for us, it is more: not only the prestige of being pioneers globally, but also further proof that a medium-sized company can make a difference, offering superior-quality networks capable of redefining standards of speed and reliability.”

The company’s goal, which for years has continued to invest heavily in research and development of new technological solutions, is to progressively extend the service to its entire proprietary network—over 32,000 kilometers of infrastructure across Lombardy, Veneto, Trentino-Alto Adige, and Emilia-Romagna.

Why is the offer dedicated to micro-enterprises?

The micro-enterprise segment is vast, often overlooked by major operators, yet crucial for Italy’s economy and society. Contrary to the belief that they resist change, many micro-enterprises are embracing digital transformation, for now mainly by moving to the cloud. But the availability of extremely high and symmetrical Internet speeds, combined with optimized traffic routing ensured by our company toward national and international cloud providers, enables those applications once promised by 5G but never delivered due to the failure of major mobile operators to deploy a “true” millimeter-wave 5G, which requires significant investments that never materialized. In the early phases of any technological rollout, availability of devices and resources is limited. Mynet, aware of its entrepreneurial roots “from the bottom,” and consistent with its vision of corporate social responsibility, has therefore chosen to launch the first 50G network services with an offer tailored, on highly favorable terms, precisely to micro-enterprises ready to invest in digital transition.”
