MOGLIA, MYNET'S FIBER OPTIC CONSTRUCTION SITE IS IN THE FINAL STAGES
MOGLIA (MANTUA) – The project for the FTTH and FTTC fiber cabling of the municipal area of Moglia, an important crossroads connecting the provinces of Mantua, Modena, and Reggio Emilia, is nearing completion. Following the construction of the long-distance Moglia–Reggiolo fiber route in September 2020, of which Mynet is the sole infrastructure owner, the work – launched in February and now entering its final weeks – connects the main town center and the Bondanello district to ultra-broadband. Over 25 kilometers of backbone have been laid by Mynet using innovative, low-environmental-impact excavation technologies.

Specifically, Mynet’s technical teams have connected all school buildings with FTTH (Fiber To The Home – true fiber optic directly into the building). The splicing work is already complete, and starting in 2022, students, teachers, and staff will finally be able to surf the web at speeds up to 1 Gbps; municipal offices will instead enjoy symmetrical speeds of up to 200 Mbps (both download and upload). The fiber optic infrastructure, which will remain municipal property, also supports the town’s video surveillance system.

For private users, eleven FTTC cabinets (Fiber To The Cabinet – fiber optic up to the street cabinet) are being installed between Moglia and Bondanello. These provide all residents with hybrid fiber-copper connections offering speeds up to 300 Mbps download and 40 Mbps upload. Private users located within 50 meters of the fiber access network can also benefit from speeds up to 1 Gbps.

More than sixty business customers have already subscribed to FTTH connections – a number expected to grow quickly with the first activations and positive word of mouth.
